Best Budget Gaming Laptops For Gamers (2019)

There was a time when gaming laptops were known to be huge monsters that still had difficulty running modern games without overheating. They were clumsy, noisy and worst of all, really expensive.

Fortunately, for students and poor players, the time has changed. Gaming Laptops have become more portable and prices more affordable than ever before. In this article we have tried to gather the best gaming laptops, all with a price of around 900 Dollars.

During this quest for the best budget gaming laptop, we came across a lot of machines equipped with integrated Intel or AMD graphics cards. It is not difficult to find one of these laptops below € 500, but the gaming performance is usually poor especially if you are trying to play latest video games.

So we decided that if a laptop PC was unable to run a selection of recent games even at low resolution and under minimal graphics, it could not be considered gaming laptop.

Fortunately, we have been able to find several interesting laptops with dedicated graphics that meet our criteria. Here is the list of our first choices of best affordable gaming laptops. For more comprehensive guides on best gaming laptops and best gaming PC visit

Lenovo Y530

Processor: Intel Core i5-8300H
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB
RAM: 8GB DDR4-2666
Screen: 15.6-inch FHD (1.920 x 1.080) IPS
Storage: 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD
Battery: 3-cell 52.5 Wh
Size: 36,5 x 26 x 2,40 cm
Weight: 2,31 kg
Best price :  899 USD on Amazon

At $899, the Lenovo Y530 features the Intel Core i5-8300H, Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD and 8GB DDR4 RAM. Apart from these internal components, the
$899 Y530 offers the same features as its counterparts of $1,300. This includes very thin bezels, Harman’s Dolby Audio speakers, a large-size keyboard with white backlighting, exceptional cooling and a killer design.

$899 may be enough to get a decent desktop gaming PC, but if you are looking for a gaming laptop in this price range with a good compromise between performance and mobility, the Lenovo Y530 from Lenovo is ideal. With a score of 4,608 points on the PCMark test, the Y530 demonstrates that it can do more than perform the daily tasks of a typical computer. Tests with 3DMark Fire Strike gave a score of more than 6,598 points, just below a desktop computer equipped with a GTX 1050 Ti.

If you’re looking for a machine to run recent games such as Black Ops 4, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey or Battlefield 5 at 60 FPS or higher, you’ll have to make some adjustments to the settings with the Lenovo Y530. But for good old classics and multi-player success, this laptop is definitely more than satisfactory.

Acer Predator Helios 300

Processor: Intel Core i7-7700HQ
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
RAM: 16GB DDR4-2133MHz
Screen: 15.6-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) Wide View 60Hz
Storage: 256GB M.2 SATA SSD
Battery: 48 Wh
Dimensions: 39 x 26,60 x 2,67 cm
Weight: 2,70 kg
Best price :  From 1,149.00 USD on Amazon

The Acer Predator Helios 300 is a real asset. Just above $1000, sometimes less if you find it on sale, it offers a GTX 1060 6GB graphics card that provides 60 FPS for most games of the last years. The laptop lacks sophisticated screen features such as fast refresh, or G-Sync (scrub tearing screen). You will also consider investing in a large HDD disc to boost the 256GB SSD. But these disadvantages will soon be forgotten when you consider the super affordable price of the beast.

The Predator Helios 300 parade at the top of our list thanks to its performance, the highest for a gaming laptop at this price point. It costs more than our number 1, the Lenovo Y530 from Lenovo, but the Helios 300 does a good job even with recent games on sharp settings. If you’re looking for great performance for around $1,000, look no further.

Acer Nitro 5

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2500U
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon RX 560X 4GB
RAM: 8GB DDR4-2666
Screen: 15.6-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) IPS
Storage: 256GB SSD
Battery: 4- cells 3320 mAh
Dimensions: 39.11 x 26 , 67 x 2,8 cm
Best price : $556 on

Of all the budget-friendly gaming laptops we’ve tested, the Nitro 5 from Acer is one of the largest and heaviest. It is probably not the most elegant of the lot, but the Nitro 5 optimized by AMD offers the best gaming performance for the price. Intel has probably grabbed the PC laptop gaming market with its fast and powerful processors, but in the mobility industry, the AMD RX 560X has serious advantages for choosing a Ryzen system.

If you’re looking for raw gaming performance and you’re not concerned about the looks and ergonomics such as the screen bezels and weight of the laptop, the Acer Nitro 5 inflated by AMD Ryzen is a great option. It did very well during all our tests and among the laptops under $600, it displays some of the best results with recent FPS games.

Processor: Intel Core i5-8300H
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 2GB
RAM: 8GB DDR4-2400
Screen: 15.6-inch FHD (1.920 x 1.080) IPS
Storage: 1TB HDD
Battery: 6- Cell 41 Wh
Dimensions: 38.28 x 26 x 2,89 cm
Weight: 2,20 kg
Best price :  $1000 on Amazon

If there is a feature that you would rarely find in a gaming laptop, it is a high refresh rate. Screens with 120Hz and 144Hz are not common in the “budget” segment. They are usually reserved for high-end laptops. MSI GL63 8RC has a display with high refresh rate for $1000. Although the GL63 is bulky and heavy, it is still easy to recommend thanks to its great performance and scalability.

Adding an extra RAM strip and an SSD drive will instantly turn the GL63 into a high-end gaming laptop. If you are used to high refresh rates while playing on your desktop PC, the GL63 is a good option to keep this experience. On the other hand, if you are comfortable with a 60Hz screen, the GF63 will be a better choice in this price range.

Acer Aspire E 15

Processor: Intel Core i5-8250U
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce MX150 2GB
RAM: 8GB DDR4-2666
Screen: 15.6-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) IPS
Storage: 256GB SSD
Battery: 6- cells 2800 mAh
Dimensions: 38 x 25.9 x 3.04 cm
Weight: 2.40 kg
Best Price: $599 on Amazon

Available for just $399, the Acer Aspire E 15 includes Intel Core i5-8250U, Nvidia GeForce MX150, 8GB DDR4 RAM, and 256GB SSD. It’s easily one of the most affordable laptops you could find equipped with a dedicated Nvidida MX150 GPU and even offering an interesting SSD storage. Although Acer does not market it as a portable gaming PC, we find it offers more than enough for simple games on a tight budget.

The Acer Aspire E 15 will certainly not compete with a Budget gaming PC, but it proudly outclasses all laptops equipped with integrated graphics in the same budget. With the MX150 from Nvidia, the E 15 withstood all our tests, posting a score of 3223 points with the 3DMark Fire Strike test at 1080p. This is almost 3x the result of laptops built around Intel’s integrated UHD 630 graphics processor.
