Bathroom with freestanding bath: My experience and useful tips

I’ve been the owner of a freestanding bath for six months now, and here are my thoughts on its advantages, disadvantages, and some secrets.

What I Got Thanks to a Freestanding Bath

I’m not unique and find freestanding tubs extremely attractive. They create an atmosphere that invites you to relax and lie in the tub. So, the first thing I got was an extremely beautiful bathroom. The second is frequent bathing, especially before going to bed. It’s like a ritual that calms and relaxes me. Now, I rest more and sleep soundly.

In addition, freestanding bathtubs are easy to clean. They seem larger than the corner ones, and the outer surface also needs to be cleaned, but it’s really easy. When the bathtub and shower stand close to the wall, there are much more problems with cleaning tiles or glass.

And, of course, colors. If you need a non-white bathtub, those are the freestanding models that offer the largest selection of colors.

What Disadvantages of a Free-Standing Bath Did I Notice?

I’ll also note several disadvantages (or let me call them features). The design of a freestanding bath doesn’t allow you to keep shampoos or sponges at hand. On the one hand, it perfectly organizes the space, and the bathroom looks neat. On the other hand, if you forget something, you have to reach for it, splashing the floor. I’m going to solve this issue by purchasing a bedside table on wheels, which I’ll simply roll to the tub.

Before installing the freestanding tub, my designer also made sure the floor was strong enough for it. So, if your house doesn’t have strong floors, maybe such a bathtub is not for you.

A Few Secrets About a Free-Standing Bath

First, think carefully about the place where the tub will stand. I have free access to it from all sides. Otherwise, dust would be difficult to remove.

Second, think about where you’ll take a shower. I didn’t want to cover the bathtub with curtains and install additional pipes. The size of my bathroom allowed me to hide the shower in a corner, and so I did.

To summarize everything, I’d say that I’m extremely satisfied with my tub. For now, I wouldn’t trade it for anything else.
