What Is SEO Content? How to Write Content for SEO?

What good are the efforts you put in writing such long content on your website if it is not going to be read by the targeted number of people? We are all well aware of the term “SEO” being used in the meetings about marketing for your business. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. By writing SEO specific content we try to have our page at the top of the search results on the search engine. If your content doesn’t satisfy the SEO guidelines and if it is unstructured, then there is a chance that your content will come on the 48th page of search results and it is not an unknown fact that there are very rare chances that someone would go that far. So, there is no doubt in saying that both SEO and content go hand-in-hand. These are the two terms that cannot be used separately. Let us look at the meaning of SEO Content.

What is SEO Content?

The content that is designed keeping in mind the prime goal of Search Engine Optimization and getting a higher SEO organic rank is called SEO Content.

Well, this line might give you a false impression that all the content on the internet is produced with this same goal and thus, all of them are SEO Content. But, most of the websites do not get the traffic that is aimed at the content; and that takes the content out from the category of SEO Content. Such content did not fail, rather they gave you an insight into the SEO community and henceforth, you will produce better content.

SEO Content here doesn’t only mean the written blogs but also the landing pages, interactive tools, images, videos, audio, etc. Any information that lives on the internet is content and potential of being SEO Content. The following is a list of SEO Content types.

This list does not include all types of SEO Content. There are endless possibilities for any type of content to be SEO Content.

What is the importance of SEO Content?

Suppose that you have four SEO tools and there is a landing page for each of them. Now, having just these four pages will not bring the desired organic traffic to our website. For that, you need to have hundreds of articles and other types of content also made available on our website. Users never really search for the product directly. So, the articles on our website need to have related keywords in those articles so that the users can come to our website indirectly. Many users might be looking for just a solution that one of our products happens to provide. You cannot assume every customer to know that you have any such product. In such situations, having article(s) that are about the applications of your products can help. So, having content other than just the landing page of the product is mandatory if you want heavy traffic on your website.

Now that you understand the meaning of SEO content, its various types, and its significance, let’s dive into creating SEO content effectively. Creating engaging content that effectively ranks can be a daunting task. While there are several factors to consider for successful SEO, this article focuses on tips specifically for written content. 1. Decide on a topic you will write on

You cannot just start writing on any random topic no matter how strongly you feel it connected to your website. You have to invest some time in deciding the perfect topic to not regret spending so many resources on it later. Think broad topics that your targeted audience might be interested in reading about. Then look for the keywords on some Keyword Explorer and post that, check the ‘Phrase Match’ report to get an idea on which keywords are getting more hits and which aren’t. Check for the search volume of the keywords to decide your final topic. Well, just that would not help, rather it can mislead you. Check for the top-ranking page’s estimated traffic too. That way you will know that it is not just this one phrase that leads a user to that page. There might be some other queries too that can end you up on that page. So, look for both search volume and top-ranking page’s traffic too.

  1. Analyze search intent

For the topic you have finalized, check the search intent. Search engines have invested billions behind understanding the true intent of the searches. This helps them return the results desired by the users even from the wrong or meaningless queries. So, your content should also align with the search intent otherwise your rank is not going to be even close to what can be called good. You can analyze the search intent from the three C’s: Content-Type, Content-Format, and Content Angle.

The Content-Type is to check that the pages that are top-ranking are – landing pages, category pages, blog posts, product pages, or something else.

The Content-Format is to see the type of content that ranks good – how to’s, list of something, opinions, news articles, etc.

The Content Angle is to check for the type of people that are searching for this type of content – beginner, mediocre, or expert in some topic. And how is that topic of their interest related to your content?

  1. Create data-driven outline

An average top-ranking page is not at the top for some specific keyword only. It will be in the top 10 pages for 1000 other keywords too. For achieving this they look for the keywords that other top-ranking pages have used. You can use the same strategy and look for the top-ranking keywords to create an outline for your content. This way your page can also be included in the list of top-ranking pages.

  1. Prepare the draft

Now, after having decided the outline, it is finally time for you to write something. Prepare a draft of the blog. It has not much to do with SEO, so do not spend much time in making it SEO specific. The aim of this step is not to ready a perfect draft for the website, but to have an outline of the blog ready so that you have something palpable to work with. Do not agonize in using proper sentence structures and other formal standards of writing. Just write as you speak generally. There are the next steps to overcome the silliness in this draft. You can use the Pomodoro technique to set a goal for 25 minutes. You can write nearly 500 words in 25 minutes and they need not be all sensible, but that does not mean you write rubbish. The writing should be related to the topic and something that only needs to be edited in most cases and not rewritten completely. Take a short break after this goal is achieved and then repeat the same process and you will be ready with a draft for your blog.

  1. Edit your draft

Correcting the mistakes in the draft is to be done in this step. By the end of this step, make sure that you have set the flow of the article as that is very important to keep your readers connected until the end of the article. Correct the spelling mistakes you have committed; this could be because of the hurry you were in to achieve the goal in the previous step. Then, also correct the grammatical errors. Most word processors come with a default checker. You can use them for preliminary checks and then use some professional tools to ensure the absence of other errors. Grammarly is the best-known tool for that purpose. Try to keep the content in a simple, lucid language that can be understood by a layman. Using fancy vocabulary will not make your article hit, but the simple language will surely do. There is no written rule to have fancy words in your article to make it look good. Hemingway tool can help you with simplifying the language of your article. After everything is done, get feedback and do the corrections if found any.

  1. Make your content visually charming

Most of the people do not prefer reading the plain text without any structuring or some other creative form of writing such as tables, lists, head-points, etc. try adding appropriate images in between paragraphs. For any technical article, you can add the screenshots that assist in understanding the content better. Many studies have shown that people understand better form visuals than just text. So, add as many videos and images as you can to enhance the content understanding. But don’t overdo it to lose the essence of the content. Also, these visuals should be placed in appropriate places and not just randomly.

  1. Write a gripping meta-title and description

Search engines do not just look for the text in the content. They also look for the met content such as meta-tags and descriptions. Use this to make it clear in readers’ minds that why it will be helpful to them to open this link. This is a place from which the search intent is understood. So, you need to be precise in writing the meta-content for the content. This will increase the click-through rate of your website and can potentially improve the SEO rank too. Although, Google says that they do not use this as a metric to decide the ranks as it is too noisy. But, our ultimate goal by getting a higher SEO rank is to increase the number of clicks on the links that lead the readers to our page.

  1. Upload

Now, you are done with all that would help you create good SEO Content. So, upload it. If you are using WordPress, it is advisable to use Wordable to upload your entire content in just one click might it include images or videos too.

These were the tips for creating SEO Content that will help you rank higher in search engine results. Some of the general tips include making your content as the go-to resource on the topic, trying to keep your content original, crispy, gripping and unique, and making it as accessible to the readers as possible. Just following these steps does not ensure that your page will rank good because the rank ultimately depends on the words you use and how much d you adhere to these tips. Even if your page does not do well once, don’t fret. It is not the end of the world. You can always rewrite a better version of it and take another chance.
