Social media has the ability to help firms to connect with their customers as well as grow their business. However, in order to achieve this success through social media, a company must have a social media plan in place. This plan must come from your social media efforts as well as strategic analysis of the company.

When it comes to conducting a social media analysis, you must define your target market, online goals, and competitors. It would help if you also considered your needs as well as the tools available that will be suitable for your needs. Below are some of the steps that you can follow to perform a complete social media analysis.

About NetBase

Steps to Conducting Social Media Analysis

The first step is to set your social media objectives. It is important that you become clear about what your business is looking for from social media. Having clear goals is the key to having a successful social media campaign.

Secondly, make sure that you define your target market by analyzing your client base and their demographics. This includes checking out information such as beliefs, social status, gender, education, interests, age, and attitude. It is also essential to check out how they use social media, the platforms they use, why they use them, as well as how often they use them.

Thirdly, you should perform a SWOT (Strengths Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) Analysis. This helps you identify the strengths and weaknesses of your company as well as know the opportunities that are available for you to exploit. With a SWOT analysis, you also get to identify and eliminate the threats that your company might face. This analysis will enable you to develop a niche where you can be able to compete successfully.

Fourthly ensure that you analyze your competitors. In addition to knowing who your competitors are, you should also find out whether or not they have a social media presence. You can then analyze each of their social media presence n and the platforms that they use as well as if their branding is consistent in all the platforms. You can also check out the type of content that your competitors use and how often they post.

The fifth step is to list all the available resources that your company has. It is essential that you base the type of resources that your firm can use in order to facilitate its social media efforts. Make an estimate of the number of hours that you can spend on social media and determine the tools that your company already possesses. You should also identify the key people you can put in charge.

The sixth step is to review your website. Make sure you check out if your company’s website is optimized for social media and if it provides ways for individuals to share, interact and collaborate with you. Check out your website analytics to determine if your social media networks are bringing traffic to your firm’s site.

Lastly, conduct a social media audit. This will help you to evaluate how well your social media use is working for you. You will need to develop a social media audit spreadsheet which you will use to highlight all your social networks such as information about specific users, owners or the URL, on the platform. Conducting this social media analysis should enable you to create a more effective social media strategy.
