If you find yourself in a position where you are required to oversee the development of a custom e-learning program, that might be a real hassle. What process would be ideal to use here? How would you begin, and how long would it take? Below is a 7-stage process guide that would help you out:

  1. Table of Contents
    Clarify Objectives and Constraints
    Cultural Suitability of the Program
    Identify the Needs of Learners
    Develop a Content Strategy
    The Instructional Design
    Development
    Testing and Launching
    The Final Word

    Clarify Objectives and Constraints

The first phase of any complex project is to identify where you are headed. Draw out a clear plan and a written program with specific objectives. Focus on the big picture that determines what the program will accomplish.

Besides the objectives, it would also be best to identify the potential project constraints. For instance, you may experience scheduling, timing, and budgeting challenges. Compiling a list with such drawbacks would help to identify and tackle obstacles along the way.

  1. Cultural Suitability of the Program

The program you develop has to fit in well with the cultural aspect of your organization. The training curriculum should also align with the values, goals, and vision of the organization. Assessing cultural suitability also entails every probability of resistance. Knowing what to expect would help one to plan on how to handle the most complex situations.

  1. Identify the Needs of Learners

Study the needs of your learners to make sure that what you are developing would suit their needs best. It is also important to consider essential factors such as technical ability, demographics, motivation to be better, and experience with content, to name a few. Subsequently, clarify your expectations from each learner to evaluate their experience with the e-learning process.

  1. Develop a Content Strategy

Working in an organization for a while will give you insight into the habits of the learners and relevant content. Come up with a strategy that would include essential topics to bridge the gap of learner deficit.

  1. The Instructional Design

Planning, analyzing, and organizing the custom elearning development process relies significantly on the design of the instructional storyboard. Similarly, look at the previous experiences that learners have had with different content to establish the most appropriate entry point. Next, figure out how to deliver content for the success of the e-learning sessions.

  1. Development

The development stage entails creating interactions to improve learning management and assessing the relevance of different courses. Discuss market preferences and how the courses would be established in the management of the organization. Once the development stage is complete, learners would be ready to venture into a revision process.

  1. Testing and Launching

You can roll out a small bit of the e-learning courses to test the performance. Subsequently, stakeholders access the test products first to provide feedback. Provide detailed guidelines for the type of feedback you need and how people should express their different opinions. When the product is ready, launch it to share its performance towards meeting the organization’s goals.

The Final Word

The E-learning development process is comfortable when one knows the right guide to follow. In the end, efficient performance of the implemented program would contribute to the success story of the organization.
