Method 1: Turn off your machine

In the first method, you will need to turn off your Windows machine through Command Prompt. We will show you how to do it on Windows 10 by using keyboard keys. This method is compatible with previous operating systems.

  1. Hold Windows logo and press R
  2. Type cmd and press Enter to open Command Prompt
  3. Type shutdown /s /f /t 0 and press Enter to shut down your Windows machine
  4. Power on your Windows machine
  5. Test your USB mouse

Method 2 – Change Power and Sleep Settings

Some users who had this issue reported that disabling the “Stay connected to WiFi while asleep” setting in the power & sleep settings solved not just the Bluetooth mouse problem, but also some other connectivity problems.

If you’re not sure how to disable this feature, just do the following:

  1. Go to Settings>System
  2. Now go to Power & Sleep tab
  3. Uncheck both “On battery power, stay connected to WiFi while asleep” and “When plugged-in, stay connected to WiFi while asleep” stay connected to WiFi while asleep

Method 3: Enable USB mouse

If your USB mouse is disabled you will not be able to use that mouse. You will need to open Device Manager and check is USB mouse enabled or disabled. If your USB mouse is disabled, you will need to enable it. We will show you how to do it on Windows 10 by using keyboard keys. The same procedure is compatible with previous operating systems.

  1. Hold Windows logo and press R
  2. Type devmgmt.msc and press Enter to open Device Manager
  3. Press Tab to select computer name. In our example it is DESKTOP-CLKH1SI
  4. By using down arrow navigate on Mice and other pointing devices
  5. Press Alt + right arrow on your keyboard to expand group
  6. By using down arrow navigate on HID-compliant mouse. It is USB mouse. In our example, it is disabled and can not be used on Windows machine
  7. Press Shift + F10 or Fn + Shift + F10 to open properties list. These combination keys are simulating right click on your mouse
  8. By using down arrow choose Enable device and press Enter on your keyboard
  9. Test your USB mouse

Method 4: For USB/Bluetooth Mouse or Keyboard

1.Type control in Windows Search then click on Control Panel.

2.Then click on View Devices and Printers under Hardware and Sound.

3.Right-click on your USB Mouse or Keyboard then select Properties.

4.Switch to Hardware tab and then click on the HID Device, click properties.

5.Now click on Change Settings then switch to the Power Management Tab.

6.Uncheck the option “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

7.Click Apply followed by OK.

Method 5: Disable Fast Startup

1.Press Windows Key + R then type control and hit Enter to open Control Panel.

Method 6: Perform Clean Boot
